Jay Abiona provides credible security tips to keep schools safe.
The founder and CEO of Credible Security Solutions stresses the importance of having a strong school safety plan in order to keep students safe.

There has been an increase in crime throughout the country; but worse yet, there has been one #MassCasualtyAttack after another. According to Wikipedia, there were a total of 80 school shootings in the first decade of 2000, 261 in the second decade (2010’s) and a total of 138 in the last few years (2020’s). That’s approximately 53 school shootings per year in the last 23+ years and the number of occurrences is increasing.

The founder and CEO of Credible Security Solutions, Inc. (#CssOne) said, “We need more than just thoughts and prayers to protect our children. We also need to take action after those thoughts and prayers.”

Abiona also stated, “In order to secure the schools and protect the children, we need to have layers of security. This could include but should not be limited to security and threat assessments, crime prevention through environmental design, perimeter gates or fencing, secure points of ingress and egress, access control and visitor management, bullet resistant glass or film, proper signage, safety audits, emergency response training and drills and professionally trained armed security officer/s on patrol.”

In April 2023, the Texas House gave final approval to legislation (HB3) calling for significant investments to increase schools’ safety measures to include hiring at least one-armed security officer at every school campus within the State of Texas as well as implementing silent panic buttons in every classroom.

As for the horrendous school shooting that took place on March 27, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee, Kerry Picket with The Washington Times reported “Nashville Police Chief John Drake said the school shooter decided against attacking another school because it had ‘too much security.'”

Abiona also claimed, “Implementing security attributes will help deter, detect and defend against a threat, but we need to take action as it’s always good to have a plan in place, just in case.” He also said, “There are many ways to protect schools without spending additional funds by using the tools already have in place. Secure access control (locking gates and fences), one point of ingress, locking all perimeter and classroom doors throughout the school and having one point of contact for all suspicious reports are just a few of the many ways to protect the schools without adding any additional security attributes.”

Published in a recent Google Review, Antonio Zambrano, the Director of Finance and Operations at Amigos Por Vida, a public charter school in Houston, Texas said, “The safety of our students, staff, and parents has always been a priority for APV-Friends For Life Public Charter School.” Abiona feels that this comment needs to be the mindset for all schools to protect children now and in years to come.

#CredibleSecurity has been providing security assessments, #MassCasualtyAttack awareness training, private investigations and armed credible security officers for countless individuals, businesses and schools in the State of Texas. #CssOne is very particular with what clients they protect and have an extensive security solution that’s unlike most. Abiona stated, “When conducting a security assessment or an investigation, I’m convinced that analyzing the past, evaluating the present and providing a plan for the future establishes a credible solution that will protect you, your family and your assets. Protection is a matter of prevention, not reaction.”

His hope is that the suggestions mentioned are taken seriously by all public and private schools across the country to help foster stronger school safety plans with the ultimate goal of keeping children safe.
