About the Author:

“I was born in Seoul, Korea in 1971. As the youngest of the family, with an older sister and two older brothers, I was surrounded by comfort, support, and most of all, love. As a child, I loved spending time in my own world of imagination, where I had the ability to create my friends, experiences, and “realities.” These were always preferable to the true reality that surrounded me. Growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, Korea was still recovering from its long history of military dictatorship after the Korean war and still experiencing the turmoil of political upheaval. It was simply too chaotic and harsh for a free-spirited young mind. I witnessed extreme suffering from poverty and injustices, often making me feel helpless. Yet, I found comfort in my own curiosity surrounding the human mind and exploring the possibilities in my own imaginative world. As such, I often felt detached from my physical world, missing schoolwork or even school, at times. My mom was an extremely hard-working woman, just like much of her generation at that time. She herself was a young woman, trying to raise four children by herself, with a husband who was absent far too often with business endeavors that inevitably failed. My mom had to pick up the pieces left behind, providing for her family by doing odd jobs wherever she could find them. She found relief and hope in her God and through her faith. And she openly shared her God with her children. When I turned 19, I had the opportunity to travel to the United States and I immediately fell in love with the energy of the country. It was invigorating and vastly different from the energy of my country at the time. I was in awe of the vastness of the land and the diverse cultures, languages, religions, and ethnicities everywhere. Something clicked – this was where I belonged. I would make a new life in the United States. However, I did not speak a word of English, had no family or friends in the country, and did not have the financial means to start a new life alone. Seeing my desperation, my sister encouraged me to challenge God and see how God could outdo even my wildest imaginations. Believing in me and my dream wholeheartedly, my sister gave me her entire savings – all that she had – for me. In the 1990s, there were not many cell phones, international calls were very expensive, and computer access was extremely limited. It was challenging to stay in touch with my family, and I missed them terribly. When others looked down on my family for allowing me to go to a foreign country at such a young age without sufficient support, it was fuel for my family to encourage me even more to pursue my dream and pray. On my journey, I was able to learn from the best professors in Natural Remedy and Healing and got my advanced degree in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University. I have been working as a Neuro- and Ortho-based Physical Therapist for over 25 years, but continue to pursue my curiosities surrounding human potential and further my learnings and trainings. I have incredible passion for people, especially for children and the power found within their own imaginations. My dream is to help others achieve their dreams with full awareness of who they are, by using the power within them. I pursue my dreams from California, where I live with my three beautiful children and loving husband.”
