Thomas Sumter Tisdale Jr. Selected as Top Lawyer of the Year by IAOTP

With almost six decades of experience in the industry, Thomas Sumter Tisdale Jr has certainly proven himself as an expert in his field. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Mr. Tisdale is a lawyer at The Law Offices of Thomas S. Tisdale LLC, where he provides assistance to clients in the fields of Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation, and Business Litigation.
Mr. Tisdale has extensive experience litigating complex cases in both state and federal courts at all levels. Thomas Sumter Tisdale Jr holds the distinction of being the youngest president to have served the South Carolina State Bar Association His work has contributed to the development of legal precedent in South Carolina, covering a wide range of innovative and significant legal matters. Mr. Tisdale serves a diverse clientele, which includes individuals, foundations, and non-profit organizations. Some of his clients include The Belle W. Baruch Foundation, South Carolina Aquarium, The Shipston Group, The Episcopal Church in South Carolina, as well as various individuals and organizations.
Before embarking on his career path, Mr. Tisdale obtained a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences and a BA in History from the University of the South. He completed his higher education at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1964, where he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.
Mr. Tisdale’s impressive repertoire of prior roles includes being the owner and publisher of Home House Press since 2010. Mr. Tisdale worked as a lawyer with Hellman, Yates, and Tisdale from 2013 to 2021 and as a partner with Nexsen Pruet from 2004 to 2013. From 1964 to 2004, Mr. Tisdale was a partner and founder of Young, Clement, Rivers, and Tisdale.
Throughout his illustrious career, Thomas has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his accomplishments. This year, he will be considered for an exclusive interview on TIP Radio and to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. He will be honored for his distinction as the Top Lawyer of the Year at the prestigious Opryland Hotel in Nashville at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala in December 2024. Additionally, Mr Tisdale was selected as a Super Lawyer for the years 2008 to 2016, a prestigious recognition in the legal field. Additionally, he has been acknowledged by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers and Continental Who’s Who.
In addition to his successful legal career, Thomas is also an author, publishing “Carolina Sunrise” in 2016, “Truth in Cold Blood, A Play in Three Acts” in 2013, and “A Lady of the High Hills: Natalie Delage Sumter” in 2001.
Thomas Sumter Tisdale Jr remains actively involved in various professional organizations. He is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the Historical Society of the Supreme Court of South Carolina, the Preservation Society of Charleston, the General Society of Colonial Wars, and the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem.
