Earlyn Sampson was born on June 24, 1948, in the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She has been married to her husband, Clifford Sampson, for 55 years and is the mother of six children and grandmother of eleven grandchildren. More than three decades ago, she migrated to the United States, bringing with her the values of faith, family, and education that have guided her life.

Although her formal education ended at what would be equivalent to the fourth grade in the United States, Sampson’s love for learning never stopped. She played an active role in teaching her children at home, helping them learn mathematics, reading, poetry, and time telling. Her passion for books and education inspired all six of her children to become avid readers.

Her Christian faith has been the foundation of her life. Through reading the Bible, she strengthened both her faith and her reading ability. One of the scriptures that continues to guide her is James 1:5, which encourages believers to seek wisdom from God. Inspired by this journey, Sampson wrote My Alphabet Book: Of Hidden Characters of the Bible to share her love of Scripture, learning, and family with readers of all ages.
