5 Ways to Turn Customers into Lifelong Raving Fans Using the Power of Wow-ability.

Hartville, Ohio – April 4th, 2022 – Is it enough to just satisfy customers? What could business be like if WOWING customers on a regular basis and on every level of their experience was a main priority?

With over forty years of skin in the game, owner of Begue Painting, Terry Begue believes that wowing customers guarantees the growth and success of a business. When starting his painting business back in the 70s, providing a service customers were satisfied with was good enough. At least that’s what he told myself. Being consumed with trying to keep his head above water, he didn’t give it much thought.

“That was a huge mistake on my part and the biggest reason why my painting business was struggling” Terry says. He learned the hard way that customers didn’t need him as badly as he needed them! Eventually, Terry shifted his focus from his own problems to his customers and their problems. That’s when things began to turn around for Terry.

“I discovered the harder I worked at wowing my clients, the more my problems went away!”

Armed with this new knowledge Terry began raising the bar. Looking for ways to WOW and enhance his customers’ experience.

Taking clients from just satisfied to wowed created a demand for his services that has allowed him to double, then triple his fees. On top of that, he hasn’t advertised since 2012, yet his business continues to grow!

The way Terry sees it, there are three types of customers:

1. The unsatisfied customer. These folks may not say anything about how they felt slighted, but will tell everyone they know. Even worse, they’ll get on the internet and tell the world.

2. The satisfied customer. These are people who get what they expect, no more – no less. They leave satisfied but nothing more.

3. The wowed customer. According to Terry, they are like die-hard fans and give business owners 3 very good reasons to make wowing them a top priority.

–  They’ll buy a product or service at a premium price,
–  Will wait until the business has availability, and
–  Sing praises about the product or service to everyone they know!

Satisfaction may have been good enough years ago, but to compete in today’s marketplace Terry says businesses must consistently exceed all expectations by creating and delivering WOW at every customer touch point.

Here are five easy, no cost ways to create wow-ability in any business.

Respond quickly. Even if it’s just to say their message has been received and someone will get back to them. There’s nothing customers hate more than being ignored.

Never say no. Just because the company doesn’t provide what the person is looking for, that doesn’t mean they can’t be helped. When possible, put them in touch with someone who can.

Do what was promised. The first step to wowing customers is not upsetting them in the first place. Be sure to always follow through on any promises made or don’t make them at all. The key to this is internal communication, making sure everyone on the team knows what was promised to the customer.

Give permission to nit-pick. Be sure customers know that if they have an issue – even if it seems nit-picky, the resolution won’t feel like pulling teeth.

Express gratitude. There are plenty of creative ways to thank people for their business, and it doesn’t have to be complicated or costly to make a big impact. Many times, just a smile and a sincere “thank you” can go a long way.

The simple truth is businesses stop making money when they stop caring about their customers, period. Take the time to understand who the customers are, and what is important to them. Provide customers with a great experience and keep them for life.

“The #1 goal of every business is to transition customers from being satisfied to feeling wowed. Your clients may not remember how great your product or service is, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.”

Is wowing customers currently a top priority? What can be done to change that? Could a change in mindset from “satisfying” to “wowing” help? In his book Attract and Keep Customers for Life, Terry talks about this Wow-ability and three other abilities that will help to build trust, communicate value, and charge a higher price.
